Flowers in the Horseshoe

Virágok a Patkoban (that is not Hungarian approved, but we'll assume it's correct)

I always feel a bit uncomfortable pulling out my big noticeable camera when in public places, but this week the patkó (the usually barren horseshoe shaped courtyard in town) has been filled with beautiful flowers for the upcoming All Saints' Day on November 1st. This is a very important day in my community where families bring flowers and light candles on the graves of their loved ones. School is shortened, and some students don't even come because they must go to a cemetery in another village. So, I grabbed my stalker lens to capture the horseshoe at this time of year. I walked up to the patkó trying to be discreet. It probably wasn't a good idea to wear a bright pink vest and pull out the zoom lens. But I did, and before I could take one picture, a man made a comment about my camera in Hungarian and asked me to take a picture of him. More friends eventually joined, they grabbed a tree branch, money was added, and we have photo. Needless to say, I was noticeable for all of my picture taking.
