Watermelon, Watermelon, Watermelon...

I have had the wonderful privilege of attending some birthdays in my town. Most of those birthdays being for children under the age of seven, but hey... free cake. Because of the recent bombardments of birthday celebrations, I thought I should learn the birthday song in Hungarian. Let me tell you friends, it is one of the hardest birthday songs to learn. I learned the Romanian birthday song in probably 5 minutes. It's simple, repetitive, short. Easy. The Hungarian birthday song? I practiced for over an hour and I still only have a few parts down. I think I have found my goal for the next two years...

The cake with cow cheese and special jam.

Bogi, the birthday girl!
Gathering around the piano.
Péter, my counterpart's son. He's finally starting to like me. :)
"Meg! Meg! Kérsz kávét?"
"I would love coffee, Zólán. You know me so well."

The Day We Were Thankful for Gas Appliances...

Where I spent my first PC Thanksgiving.

I had a wonderful Thanksgiving full of delicious food and good company. Well worth the 15 hour journey it took to get to the small village of Focuri. You may think I am crazy to travel that far for a 24 hour visit,  but I am young and at the end of that journey was a feast of amazingness. A big thanks to Kelly for hosting!

This feast of amazingness was an all day effort of cooking and slaving away in the kitchen, and it wouldn't be a Thanksgiving if everything went smoothly. Towards the end of the cooking extravaganza the power went out. I was kind of delirious throughout the day due to lack of sleep, but I remember good vibes and people pulling together to finish the preparations. We had candles, lighters, flashlights on cell phones, actual flashlights. Anything that provided light. Carving a turkey in the dark, probably isn't such a good idea, but we only had minor casualties. Something to be thankful for.

Bert the turkey awaits his final stage of existence.
So much light!
Matt, Theron, and Kelly in the kitchen.
A fitting jungle-themed centerpiece. Sound effects provided by the bird tree.
A Thanksgiving stroll.
A must on any hill.
Look closely.
The lucky one. This day was not his last.

When things got interesting...

YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now back to making a fireplace. Télapó day is just around the corner. Santa is coming! There's so much to do!
